To connect with partners in the new situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, the Organization of Francophonie International (OIF) organized the international conference "Vietnamese agricultural cooperation -Africa: Strengthening Connections, Sustainable Development Together” on September 9, 2021, 13h30 - 17h30 (GMT/UTC + 7am).
With the advantages of large arable land, soil and climate conditions in many countries are similar to those in Vietnam, suitable for the development of tropical vegetables and fruits, according to Vietnamese businesses, these are the first conditions, Africa is favorable for us to expand investment in agricultural value chains in Africa and Vietnam.
In addition, the legal framework and policies to encourage investment in agriculture by the Governments of some African countries are creating many advantages and attracting the attention of Vietnamese businesses. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in the coming time, it will pilot an investment model in the production and processing of agricultural products in a number of African countries, with priority given to Vietnamese industries with technological strengths. : rice, rubber, coffee, cashew nuts, livestock and aquaculture.
However, according to experts, geographical distance and cultural differences are also a barrier that businesses must pay attention to learn before expanding investment in this area. As of 2015, Vietnam has invested in 33 projects in 12 African countries, with a total capital of about $2.6 billion.
Ngoc Thanh Son Tea hopes that this will be one of the events that opens up many opportunities for trade development between Vietnamese and African businesses.
